A blogging revival

Blogging eh? Remember that? Back in early 2011 everyone was doing it, and now hardly anyone even knows what a blog is! I'm here to tell you that the blog is not dead. Long live the blog! etc.

So, you're asking yourself "how is Tinners' quest to become a gold league SC2 player going?", "He must be there by now? or at least silver?" "Surely? Bronze league is reserved for noobs, nerf accounts and Command & Conquer players right?" Erm, well lets move on to that later.

I've moved! To what is arguably the spiritual centre of Starcraft in Europe, Brighton. How can I substantiate this claim? I refer you to figure 1.

Figure 1 - progamer central

Demuslim, TLO, Stephano, WhiteRa, Thorzain. These are some of the best SC2 players the EU servers have to offer. Being (loosely) central to this cluster of talent, my shortcomings will soon be a thing of the past.

And I've been watching tournaments. All of them. MLG, NASL, GSL, TSL, IPL. And not just watching, I've been studying. Soaking up strategy, getting inside the progamer mind. Do I follow the metagame? I AM THE METAGAME!

Yes thats right, despite all of this I'M STILL IN BRONZE LEAGUE. That's not to say i'm not playing better. My macro, good. My micro...is getting there. In straight up matches i'm generally dominating. My losses are mainly coming from two things; cheese and harrassment.

Now i'm going to ignore cheese because it makes me very angry to even think about it. I've said some things i'm ashamed of. Not xbox live teenager levels of language, but stuff that shouldn't find its way into the respectable esports community. Seriously, people who cheese need to look at themselves in the mirror and ask, "why am I such a dick?"
Harassment, on the other hand, I'm a big fan of. I have learnt that it is the key to winning. And often in my case, losing. A couple of reapers, mutalisks, void rays and I am totally thrown off my game. However, recently I have been remembering to do some harassment of my own, and as long as I do it before them, I win. It's shown in my league position.

Top of the league. I'm currently playing pretty much exclusively silver and gold league players, which can only mean one thing: promotion is within my grasp.

Check back next time for hopefully some exciting news.

ALSO: I'm going to Dreamhack Winter 2011 next week! And I am determined not to potentially meet these legends of esports (Day9 is going to be there! Frikking DAY9!) as a bronze league player.
